ONE HUNDRED CANTORS TO TRAVEL TO POLAND,
PERFORM AT HISTORIC SITES

SAN FRANCISCO-This summer 100 cantors from around the world will travel to Poland on a Cantors Assembly Concert Tour to perform traditional cantorial music at a variety of historic and contemporary sites, including the National Opera House in Warsaw and the Tempel Synagogue in Krakow. At Auschwitz-Birkenau they will recite special memorial prayers. The Cantors Assembly trip, "Poland to Israel: A Journey Through Time," is co-chaired by Cantor Nathan Lam, chairman of the Cantors Assembly of the United States and the senior cantor at Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles. This emotional and inspirational mission aims to connect Jews with more than 1,000 years of Ashkenazic Jewish history that gave rise to some of the most well-known Jewish traditions. Much of the music to be performed by the Cantors was originally composed in Poland.

• Tuesday, June 30 - Cantorial and classical music concert at the National Opera House, Warsaw
• Thursday, July 2 - Recitation of mourners' Kaddish at Auschwitz-Birkenau
• Friday, July 3 - Erev Shabbat service at Tempel Synagogue, Krakow, as part of the Krakow Jewish Culture Festival
